The 2007 MLB Fantasy Season is less than a month away. Here is baseball's First Team All-Fantasy squad.

It’s that time of year again. Fantasy Baseball Season. A lot of aging veterans are starting to slip while a host of youngsters are moving their way up the rankings chart. Keep on top of this, because there will be a series of articles ranking the Top Five Fantasy Teams by position, and also rating the Top 100 fantasy players. Here is the First Team.

Starting Pitcher: Johann Santana. He will just get better. Last season, Santana won 19 games, struck out 257 and had a 2.77 ERA. This year, Santana projects to win 20 games, strike out 250, and have an ERA well under 3.00. That makes him the best.

Relief Pitcher: Francisco Rodriguez. He’s not the best reliever, but his strikeout ability makes him the best fantasy closer. K-Rod will probably save less games than Mariano Rivera, but he will strike out over 100 batters and Rivera will only get 70-75 K’s.

Catcher: Joe Mauer. With Jorge Posada and Jason Varitek getting a little long in the tooth, this defending batting champion and former overall Number One Draft Pick for the Twins should be your fantasy catcher this year; if you can get him.

First Base: Albert Pujols. The best hitter in the game is a lock to hit .320 with 40 Homers and 120 RBI. He should be the Number One pick in everyone’s draft.

Second Base: Chase Utley. This California Cool Kid can do it all. Look for him to hit over .300 with 30 HR, 100 RBI, 120 Runs, and 20 SB.

Shortstop: Jose Reyes. This skinny kid can do it all. This year he will hit .300 with 40 2B, 10 3B, 20 HR, 80 RBI and 120 Runs to go along with 60 stolen bases.

Third Base: Alex Rodriguez. He allegedly had a bad season in 2006, yet he hit 35 HR, had 121 RBI and scored 113 Runs. Not too shabby for a down year. Expect A-Rod to have a “bounce-back” year and hit 40-plus homers, bat over .300 and drive in at least 130. He is still Alex Rodriguez after all.

The Outfield:

Alfonso Soriano. This guy is scary good from a fantasy perspective. He had a huge year in that pitching-friendly stadium where the Nats play. In the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, Soriano will chase the first 50-50 season ever.

Carlos Beltran. He is another five-tool Mets player. Beltran returned to form last year after a tough inaugural season in Queens. He’ll match or surpass his gaudy numbers from 2006. Conservatively speaking, Beltran should hit .280 with 38 HR and 110 RBI to go along with 20 stolen bases and 120 runs scored.

Carl Crawford. This will be the great breakout year that everyone has been expecting from Crawford. He’ll hit .300. He will blast 20 home runs and collect 90 RBI. But he will score over 100 runs and steal close to 70 bases, which puts him ahead of the more high-profile sluggers in the game.

That's the best players for the 2007 Fantasy Baseball Season.
