Major League baseball teams scramble to deal with injuries and manpower shortage for the 2007 MLB season.

2007 MLB Injury Report

For the start of the 2007 MLB season, Detroit Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers will be on the 15-day disabled list with a tired arm. The team said that Rogers was seeing a specialist and would not speculate on how long he will be out, but did say the left-hander will miss at least one regular season start.

C.C. Sabathia's forearm was bruised when he was struck by a line drive in his final spring start in Winter Haven, Fla., putting him in doubt to start in the Cleveland Indians season opener on April 2, 2007 against the Chicago White Sox.

New York Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte threw 31 pitches Wednesday, March 28, 2007 during his second bullpen session since experiencing back spasms earlier this month. Pettitte is scheduled to pitch in a minor league or simulated game Friday.

Randy Johnson of the Ariona Diamonbacks will be out until at least the middle of April with a back injury. Although the team says the injury is not serious, Johnson has struggled in the past with several baseball injuries including severe back pain caused by a herniated disk that he had surgically repaired in October of 2006.

Texas Rangers' Eric Gagne, who spent has spent almost all of the past two seasons on the Disabled List with elbow injuries that required two surgeries, is out once again. The Rangers broke camp, but placed Gagne on the 15 day disabled list for the start of the 2007 MLB season.

2007 MLB Trade Rumors

The St. Louis Cardinals are seeking to resolve a bullpen surplus with a trade of lefthanded reliever Ricardo Rincon, according to baseball sources. For now Rincon and righthander Josh Hancock remain in contention for the final starting spot in the rotation, but the team is currently favoring righthander Hancock, who has a 1.80 ERA this spring.

The New York Mets have expressed mild interest in Baltimore Orioles middle reliever Todd Williams. With Duane Sanchez likely out for the season, the Mets are looking to shore up the weakness in their brige to closer Billy Wagner. Williams has had a fine spring, posting a 1.93 ERA and 9 strikeouts in 9.1 innings pitched. Because he makes just $775,000 per year, Williams could find himself pitching at Shea Stadium very soon.
