2008 Fantasy Football Top 10 Wide ReceiversTen Best WRs in Draft Led By FF Studs Randy Moss and Terrell OwensThe usual names like Moss, Owens and Chad Johnson appear on this year's list, but there is some new blood with Braylon Edwards, Marques Colston and T.J. Houshmandzadeh.
Here they are, the Projected Top 10 Fantasy Wide Receivers for the 2008 FF Draft. 1. Randy Moss, New England Patriots (1,492 yards, 23 TDs). Last year, Randy Moss had the greatest season by a wide receiver in NFL History. He comes back to the same dangerous offense, with the same insane coach, the same spying information (just kidding) and the best QB in football. On the whole, don't expect much to change. The Pats will run a little more in the Red Zone, but most of Moss's receptions and TDs are about 73 yards long, so he should get 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns, at least. 2. Braylon Edwards, Cleveland Browns (1,289 yards, 16 TDs). Edwards is incredibly talented. He's also got a nicely developing rapport with quarterback Derek Anderson, who broke out last year with a Pro Bowl season. But Anderson sucked down the stretch, and Brady Quinn is always there, which means that at some point this year, Braylon will be in the middle of a QB controversy. Don't worry about it. Edwards will still be great. 3. Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts (1,510 yards, 10 TDs). Now that time has appeared to have finally caught up with Marvin Harrison, Wayne is now the man in Indy. That should stay it all. 4. Terrell Owens, Dallas Cowboys (1,355 yards, 15 touchdowns). So what if you don’t like him? You’ll like the 100 yards and the one touchdown that he will likely get your team each week. 5. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals (100 catches, 1,409 yards, 10 TDs). The most talented, diverse receiver in football, and he is only getting better. Keep in mind he shares grabs with Anquan Boldin, who will get 1,200 yards and 10 TDs of his own. 6. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans (851 yards, 8 TD in 9 games). Although he was hurt last year (and he just strained his groin in 2008 NFL training camp!), keep in mind that Johnson played 61 of 64 games before missing those seven games last season. Also remember that when he came back, he scored six touchdowns in the last seven weeks. 7. T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Cincinnati Bengals (1,143 yards receiving, 12 TDs). He is the perfect complement to Chad Johnson: a big, fearless possession receiver who can find the end zone on short plays, and a player who appears to have no major attitude problems. 8. Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals (1,440 yards, 8 TDs). Ocho Cinco is a self-centered jerk with an attitude that far exceeds his abilities and his accomplishments. But so what? He’ll get 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns. The only reason TJ is ahead of him is because TJ is more consistent. He gives you 6-12 points every week. CJ sometimes gives you 25, but he often gives you 2. 9. Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals (853 yards, 9 TDs in 12 games). Boldin’s great, but from a fantasy football perspective, he’s got two potential problems: (a) sharing catches with All-World wideout Larry Fitzgerald, and (b) wondering each week if it will be the rickety Kurt Warner or the about-to-exposed-as-a-bust Matt Leinart trying to throw him the football. 10. Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints. (1,202 yards, 11 TDs). This guy is for real. After an exceptional rookie year in 2006, Colston got even better, with a Pro Bowl season. And he did it during a year when his team struggled to find itself. Expect Brees and the Saints' offense to be more consistent this year, and expect Colston to be be the main beneficiary. (He's also got Jeremy Shockey as a blocker/decoy; which will help). Fantasy Football Wide Receivers 11-20
