The first week of the MLB season delivered both surprise and disappointment. Will these top 10 MLB teams be able to hold their rankings all season? Don't count on it.

It's never too early to start the weekly 2007 MLB Power Rankings. With the first week of the 2007 Major League Baseball season out of the way, here is how the top MLB teams stand in this, the first Power Rankings of the 2007 MLB season.

1. New York Mets (4-1). So far the Mets have been amazin'. They have outscored their opponents 33-8 in the first five games. John Maine, Tom Glavine and El Duque all pitched well, while Carlos Beltran and Paul LoDuca led the team's potent offense. If this keeps up, the Mets could be unstoppable.

2. Atlanta Braves (4-1). A surprise first week from a team that is still trying to find its identity. Four wins, including one over the top Power Ranking New York Mets, has set the Braves in motion.

3. Los Angeles Angels (5-1). This team could be for real this year. Off to a good start behind the pitching of John Lackey (2-0; 0.75 ERA) and the power hitting of Vlad Guerrero (.524, 3 HR, 10 RBI). With Bartolo Colon and Jered Weaver set to join the staff sometime soon, this team could be deadly.

4. Minnesota Twins (3-1). The Twins always win the AL Central. They will do it again this year. Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Torii Hunter, Joe Nathan and Johan Santana will be enough.

5. New York Yankees (2-2). Just when it looked as if the Bronx Bombers would fall to 1-3 on Saturday April 7, Alex Rodriguez bailed the team out with a walk-off grand slam. The fans loved him for a day. The Yankees are averaging over 7 runs a game and A-Rod is leading the way (.389 BA, 3 HR, 9 RBI). Once their pitching comes around, look for them to jolt to the top of the MLB Power Rankings.

6. Cincinnati Reds (4-1). A bit of a surprise start from the Queen City Nine. Aaron Harang has already won his first two games, and the Reds also got good starts from Matt Belisle and Kyle Lohse. Adam Dunn continued his hot April ways, launching three home runs in the first week. The NL Central is up for grabs, and perhaps Cincy is ready to make a run.

7. Florida Marlins (3-1). Miguel Cabrera and Hanley Ramirez have been great, leading the Fish to a .750 winning percentage in the first week. Dontrelle Willis has also been great, going 2-0 with 12 Ks and a 3.00 ERA. It will be interesting to see how this, the youngest and cheapest team in baseball, will fare this season.

8. Arizona Diamondbacks (4-2). A real surprise for this team to start out well without Randy Johnson. Look for them to drop.

9. Los Angeles Dodgers (3-2). After an 0-2 start, the Dodgers won three in a row. Watch next week as they climb into the top five teams. They are that good.

10. Chicago Cubs (3-2). Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez and Mark DeRosa carried the Cubs offense while Alfonso Soriano had a slow start this week. The pitching was marvelous, led by free agents Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis, both of whom won their Cub debuts.
