The Major Award WinnersSt. Louis Cardinals who have won the National League MVP
That is quite an impressive list. Since 1925, The Cardinals have won a total of 18 MVP awards. That's the best in National League history. Although the Cardinals have always seemed to send good pitchers to the mound, they've only had two of their pitchers win the Cy Young Award. Bob Gibson, who did it in 1968 and 1970, and Chris Carpenter who earned his trophy in 2005. It should be noted that during his 1968 Cy Young season, Bob Gibson was unhittable. He posted an ERA of 1.12, which is the lowest in earned run average in 100 years. Gibson also threw 13 complete game shutouts that season, which, if you are under 20 years old, must seem like an impossibility. He really did it. Cardinals' Rookies of the Year
*All records are from the beginning of the 1901 season ^ Minimum 1000 Innings pitched after 1901.
