Seriously, does anyone wonder why the Red Sox annoy so many fans across the country?
If you haven't heard, the latest Made in Red Sox Nation propaganda story involves the ball that catcher Jason Varitek caught for the last out of the 2007 World Series. After the game, Varitek gave it to Papelbon, who took it home and allegedly put it on his mantle at home.
But then, a few weeks back, his bulldog, who goes by name of Boss, jumped up and grabbed the ball off the mantle, took it in his savage jaws, and tore it to shreds.
I don't believe that happened. It sounds like Pap is trying to create a little mythology for the team and the sport. I guess there's nothing wrong with that. But didn't we go through this same charade just three years ago with Doug Mientkiewicz?
